- The Charente is the Mecca of the Romanic art. You will discover the cathedral of Angoulême (15 ') which is one of the masterpieces of the Romanic period (11 °/12 ° century) previous to the Gothic period. In the Charente, most of the small village churches are truly beautiful. Some are of admirable beauty: Lignères-Sonneville, Bonneuil, Malaville

- Cognac and it's countryside (35 '). You will appreciate the luxurious landscapes of the vineyard of la grande Champagne (part of the area where the best Cognac are produced). In villages or isolated properties, you will meet friendly owners ready to offer a free tasting of their produce (Cognac, Pineau, local wine). You will visit as well the city of Cognac and its museums (Hennessy, Martell).

- Beaches of white sand of the Atlantic coast (1. 15 ').

The city of La Rochelle (1. 30 '). Magnificent town very alive and full of history with its fascinating harbour. The island of Ré (1. 45 ') where you will discover small villages with beautiful houses, its harbour, white sand beaches and seafood restaurants.

- The vineyard of Bordeaux (1h30’). These vineyards are known all over the world and it is not necessary to describe it more.

- The Dordogne area. Very green countryside with numerous rivers . You will see very numerous castles there, some of them small and delighting the others very important and impressive (Hautefort for example). The bottom of valleys conceals caves of great interest like: Lascaux, one of the cradles of the humanity (rupestral paintings dating about 27.000 years). or les Eysies: a journey in the center of the earth. The Dordogne which is certainly one of the most touristic places of France begins at approximately 30 ' of La Mothe. Its most interesting part ( the Dordogne valley, its castles, the caves of Lascaux and Les Eysies) is situated at approximately 1. 45 '.

- Near La Mothe, you can play golf (Cognac, Angoulême, Presles), tennis, find horse-ridding clubs, cycling, fishing and canoeing on the Charente river lines which King François 1 ° described as the most beautiful river of his Kingdom. The Charente lines our property.
