Very comfortable self-catering holiday rentals, bed and breakfast accommodations, with swimming pool, in a 17th Century stately manor located in Charente, 10 km away from the city of Angoulême. After almost 40 years working for 2 large multinational US companies, retirement age arrived a few years ago. During our active lives, my wife Marie-Jo and myself had the opportunity to travel all-around the world, to visit a number of different countries and to stay in the Western part of the United States (Phoenix Arizona). We are now living in “Charente " which is located in the south west of France where both of us were born. |

Le logis de La Mothe is a stately house built in its current shape during the 17th century by Jean Mesnau, heir of a long lineage among which, the representatives have dedicated their fortune and talents to the service of the Kings of this country since the beginning of the 16th century until the end of the 18th century. During this period, the history of this family and the history of the Manor became entwined. During the 18th century, le Logis was significantly modified and restored. |

In a more recent time, important works of modernization and reorganization were achieved. Today le Logis de la Mothe and its outbuildings are in excellent shape. Surrounded by a park of several hectares, the property is set in the heart of a vast agricultural domain still worked by tenants & lined by the Charente river. The seclusion with no immediate neighbours, no major roads or
rail near enough to intrude, and the proximity of the Charente river, all confer to La Mothe a particular atmosphere of Peace, Silence and Harmony. La Mothe/Vindelle is located 10 km North-west of Angoulême on the D37 and reasonably close to the N10 (Paris, Bordeaux via Tours, Poitiers and Angoulême). Cognac (35 km) and Jarnac are close by. La Mothe is equally accessible by fast train (TGV from Paris, Lille or Marne la Vallée –Disneyland and Bordeaux) and by low cost airlines such as Ryanair and Easy-Jet Ryanair operate 3 scheduled flights a week between Stansted and Angoulême. |
